A History of Service

1940s

The firm that is today known as Tucker Scott CPA, got its start in the 1940s when Carter Dobbs became one of the first people in Decatur, Alabama, to hang out a shingle as a public accountant. His office was located in the Morgan County National Bank building at the corner of Johnston Street & 2nd Avenue.

1950s

In the early 1950s, Cal Acker, CPA, joined the firm after working for the IRS and the firm became known as Dobbs & Acker.

1960s

In 1965, Jim Tucker, CPA, joined the firm after working with Arthur Anderson in Chattanooga, TN.

1960s – 1980s

In 1978, Mr. Tucker constructed a building at 431 Johnston Street that served as the firm’s office until 2002 when it moved to its present location.

1980s

David Scott joined the firm in 1987 as a recent graduate of the University of Alabama. He earned his CPA certificate in 1991 and was named a partner in 1995.

1990s – Today

Stan Ange and Bob Bell merged their accounting practices with the firm during the 2010s.

Aaron Bell joined the firm in 2010 as a recent graduate of the University of Alabama. He earned his CPA certificate in 2016 and was admitted to the firm as a partner in 2018.

Frederick (Drei) Marthaler, III, joined the firm in 2013 as a recent graduate of Auburn University. Drei earned his CPA certificate in 2017 and he was named a partner in 2022.
